help with fuel pump on cc wagon

hi
looking for easiest way to remove the fuel pump and drain tank of junk floating in the fuel on a cc lancer wagon.
i assume there is a plug to drain the tank and the tank needs to be removed to access the fuel pump.
do the bolts that hold the tank, undo from under the car or from inside?
and does the fuel pumps on these wagons have any sort of filter on them?
also best way to clean the junk out of the tank while i have it off the car? (i assume water wouldn't be a good but not sure what else to use)

as for cleaning it i would just use fuel as a solvent when cleaning to avoid contaiminating it. Pretty sure the bolts are under the car for the tank.
