Fuel gauge problem

Hey i have a 2000 lancer glxi coupe and whenever its on empty and i fill up it only seems to getup to about 15litres before it wont fill up anymore. And once i turn on the car the fuel gauge only shows that its half full, any ideas on what is happening? Like is it a full tank of gas but its not being recognised or is it actually half full

You should be filling around 36L when your gauge sits on empty without the fuel light on. For the time being I would set your odometer to plan for 400km trips and fill up whenever you tick past 400 just to be safe. When you fill up, pull into an empty car space, pull your cluster out, take the plastic face off, hold it back into the dash and turn the car on so the cluster is working as normal but not actually bolted in, then push the fuel gauge to the F marker. If that doesn't work just get a new cluster. If that doesn't work then we can discuss other not-as-easy options.

Rigby. No lol

Chances are you have a faulty fuel level sensor. Please do not pull your cluster apart and play with the needle lol

Works for Protons lel. Let me have my fun
