Fault in radio/clock/trip meter circuit - where to look?

Hey all,

I've got a rather bothersome issue with my car since a month.

A certain fuse keeps blowing, first time while driving (just after getting back from the snow), replaced it the same night, it blew immediately. Then replaced some days later, it blew during my next drive. Since then, blowing when i replace it.

Which fuse? Not sure how to identify it. It's a 10 A fuse in the engine bay fuse box, the icon on the lid looks like maybe the room lamp. These are the things that do not work anymore: radio, radio memory, room light, clock, trip meter memory, boot lighting, remote locking. Also, when the key is off/acc: tail/park lights, headlights, central locking (these still work with the key on).

My first thought was the boot lights, (custom lights, had an issue with them before). I redid them before replacing the fuse for the second time, thought I had found the problem. It hadn't clicked for me that while driving, the boot lights are off anyway, but they're disconnected entirely now, still no good. Also unplugged the radio and harness/adaptor (radio screwed back in to the slot). I've looked at the room light, doesn't appear to be any issue there, tried the led bulbie in my PC and it's good. I haven't tried a fuse since removing the room light bulb, no spares left, but will try again after removing the whole fixture.

Basically I want everything to work again. So my question is: where/how should I continue looking for this fault? I might buy a circuit breaker so i don't keep burning through fuses, but I'm scared I might have to rip the whole car apart, can I get some test tool to help?

PS the car has custom footwell lighting (linked to key/acc) and underbody lighting (works with/without key), installed by a shop for the previous owner. Both still work though. Had a quick look under the plastic panel next to the driver's right foot where both sets appear to be wired to, all looked okay though, and of my blowing fuse is in the other fuse box.

PPS my cruise control stopped working probably a month before this, the on/off button and light in the dash work, but that's it, doesn't appear to do anything for the lever presses and doesn't actually work. I don't think they're related but 'm mentioning it for prudence sake.

There is obviously a short circuit somewhere along the lines.. Get a test light and test between every connection possible..
