CH DIY Interior Removal

Hey Skippy,

Thanks for the great post bro! Got on to my car right after reading your post.

Now the point is, although my ride is a CH Lancer, it has a slightly different dashboard facia that I have not come across any other model on road. The person who originally bought it brand new decided he would like a 6 CD changer option :)

So my CH Lancer dashboard facia looks like the picture in the link below:

Any suggestions on how to remove the panel? Is it same like Step 3 above ?

I tried removing the AC controls panel Below. There are no screws leading upto the facia, obviously.

Cheers

Ausmitsi, don't quote me as I'm no guru but there were a few ch lancers that came out with the double sin like you've linked in the picture and I think if you can find a removal guide for an evo 7? that may help you as i think the evos have the same design to the dash you have with the climate control down lower

He's got a Lancer LS model. The 06/07 VRX also came with this 2DIN setup.

removes the same as the regular version were the climate control is you will feel a couple of screws in the upper underside of it undo those then the surrounds will pop out - then remove the CD surrounds facia which is just clip on then the head unit surround just pops in and out with 4 tabs the CD unit will pull out as one with the surrounds

Hi DJG90, ABS & Chowetime, thanks for your reply guys. I managed to figure it out.

The thing to be careful is, this OEM Double Din (LS/VRX) is naked plastic with mettalic paint finish... no padded trim like the EVO Double Din.
There is a slight chance of cracking it up if you try to remove the normal way.

What I did was:
1) Remove Glove box
2) Remove AC Controls
3) Slightly lower the bottom Dash trim

That gives you to insert a finger/tool around the Plastic Double Din stereo console.
The possibility of breaking/snapping it is very less when you pry it out now.

I have already managed to do this & change the Dash Trim AND Stereo Console trim to an EVO 9 from wreckers.
Im gonna redo it & make a video of it in the Austrlia Day Long Weekend. All the best on my 1st DIY Video.

Thanks guys for the leads/motivation. Love that car :p
