CG/CH Rear Sway Bar

yup one of them :D

but OT: and in all seriousness it does complement the rear swaybar very well in its control over the back end from my experiences

Agreed. I have a tower strut, lower front 4-point, boot tower strut, lower two point, four other longitunidally in the rear and the front a rear Whiteline 26mm sways to match... Only need a room bar and front fender stiffeners really... They're on the list!

Mine travels well flat at high G-loading around bends, quite nice feeling.

Cool, thanks for the ideas guys! I used to have a sub box in my boot which would have got in the way of the tower strut brace. And well, seeing as though the box was giving me the *poo*s recently (besides making it hard to get to my spare tyre - I jammed my finger inbetween the box and the car and bent an expensive gold diamond ring...) I had it exiled from the car and now have the room for one...

In other news, the bf fabricated up some new brackets for my rear sway bar. We took it for a spin yesterday around some roundabouts and the new brackets have improved it 100%. Have booked the car in Sat for the camber alignment & wheel alignment.

Anyway, I don't know if anyone will find this amusing... I had instructions the other night to go under my car, take some photos and measurements for the bf to make up new sway bar brackets. I drew up a diagram and sent him through a photo and this is what I got back:
"Thanks babe, that will do... has the bolt come off the swaybar? the one that connects the little link bracket to the swaybar and bolt? It won't matter, I'll make up the new links anyhow. Here is where I mean. It's still safe, so don't worry about it." :p

Yeah thanks hun

yup happened to mine about a week after i fist put it in, the bolt shot out as i was driving, either get a locking washer or try another bolt
i got a more heavy duty bolt and replaced all 4 end bolts with them and have never had a problem since, can also use thread lock tape if u can find it, its just the bolt vibrating under pressure and slowly undo-ing itself

Yes! A locking washing is definately what i needed. I'm so glad I wasn't the only one to have that happen ;)

I can see by the pictures that your other-half didn't use any Loctite...

It's considered a must on any 'safety component' on your car (brakes, suspension, chassis bolts, engine bolts)

Loctite 262 (red bottle) is a very inexpensive all-rounder, bought in any automotive store (Supercheap, Repco, Autobarn, etc).

hehe I think he was more exited about getting it on so I could feel the diference in the first instance. Those brackets were just made up from what was lying around in the shed... As I said earlier, I have new brackets now with less moveable parts, so shouldn't have the issue anymore. Fingers crossed these are staying on solid as :D :D Thanks for the tip though re Lockite, might have to ask the bf to pop some on there. He's still got to redo the big silver bracket in the pic - he said he wants to put some webbing (?) on there to make it stronger.

Talking about Rear Sway Bars for CG's and CH's there was this place that caught my interest in this Whiteline Dealership in Rhodes. Now I know where to go and get them. Been meaning to get them done.

I have two 26mm Whiteline sways, big difference in handling and performance, over OEM. Do not hesitate to buy these great products. Car is really drum-tight now on the road.

nice swaybar.. thinkin of up grading mine.. its a 12mm stock atm, and why not get strut brace's from ebay? for like 120 for front and rear  there whiteline copy's.. so should be almost the same, if not exactly the same strength wise

hmm.. to each their own, but I don't compromise on safety.. brakes, suspension and the like all have to be quality, in my book.

But, as long as it works, great!

Since I don't use ebay, i'm happy with going with Whiteline. Heard great things about them. Since theres a dealer a few suburbs from my place it would be more convenient.

Saw Carmate had strut braces for $80 last month but they were all sold out. I asked them if they would be getting anymore in and they said no, and told me better off getting them from Whiteline instead.

Whiteline have been in the game longer than I have been alive, which is a substantial amount of time!

They made a beaut swaybar package for my first car in 1986, which was a 1971 Holden Statesman Deville, 383 Chev. That car was awesome after I put in the Whiteline sways and King spring package...

Funnily enough, I had the exact same stuff in both of my XR6 Falcons and now the Lancer... something in that!

not sure, sorry, can only speak for the CJ...

I had a choice of 24mm (which would have been fine) or 26mm (which is probably a bit too much, but fun in the dry!)

I'm quite eager to get mine, for sure would be next on my list than anything else right now.
