CE Lancer Possible Engine Conversions

just wanted to get your opinions on which would be the best engine for a CE swap starting from cheapest easiest to best engine possible while not having to reinforce the chassis. just curious about prices, practicality, difficulty and what kind of power i would start to see.

Re: Best Engine to use for CE Engine swap Price/Performance

oh so what engines bolt into a CE chassis?

from least possibly expensive to most expensive (also conveniently sorted from noob/d!ck all car knowledge to walking automotive wiki)

edit: ill expand this, some mod better stickie this *milkshake*

4g93
comes stock in CE lancer sedan and some coupes
1.8L SOHC
stock power: 86kw

4g94
stock in CG/CH lancers
2.0L sohc
stock power: 92kw

4g93/4 E
E represents a non mivec DOHC head from tdm cars
can be fitted to 93 or 94 blocks. good base for a turbo
stock power:96kw

4g92m
1.6L dohc mivec
a lot of outlay for little return really. best combined with a turbo or larger bottom end
stock power:128kw

4g15 turbo conversion
chuck a turbo on the 1.5L
pm henry

4g9X turbo conver
chuck a turbo on a stock 4g93 or 94. good for 10psi or less and easy power for little spendings if you're smart
power: 160ish?

4g93t

stock CM5A motor, 1.8L twin cam turbo motor
stock power:143kw

4g9X franky
dirty abomination
92m/93/93e head
93 or 94 bottom end
turbo or big cams
power: ??? 150ish?

6a12/6a12m
from the fto. 2.0L v6
has wicked note to it
6a12m for out of box performance
6a12 is you want to do big cams. mivec is gay anyway
stock mivec power: 147kw
stock non mivec power: 127kw

4g64/9
2.4L sohc big dog. from a CH or something
64=non mivec = 110kw
69=mivec = 119kw

4g63t
does this need explanation?
stock power: 206kw (gentlemens agreement)

6a13(t)/TT
technically it's TT, but TT needs some firewall "massaging" or go big single
stock power: 206kw (gentlemens agreement)

6g7X
big bad bruiser...
stock power: 200ish kw

there are technically more that will bolt in, but they're kinda hard to find/steps backwards. like 6a13 sohc's etc

i have an inkling, now i could be wrong, but im pretty sure, that this topic has been covered once or thrice both here and on the internet

Re: Best Engine to use for CE Engine swap Price/Performance

We went through this the other night. Only 2L mivec is from a CJ and he's dreaming if he thinks he can do it for 1-1.5 in a CE, 2L non-mivec from a CG/H is the same basic fitment as a 4g93 1.8. Never heard of anyone even doing the CJ swap in Australia, and it's not gonna be a straight bolt in.

Re: Best Engine to use for CE Engine swap Price/Performance

A proton satria GTI 4g93p wont fit a CE will it? :S All CC lancer based engines have the wrong orientation for bolt in right?

Re: Best Engine to use for CE Engine swap Price/Performance

Cheapest option, if 4G15 turbo it do some research. 4G93 bolt on's cam tune do some research. 4G94 swap bolts right int, do some research. 4G92 Mivec bolts in do some research. 4G69 fits in with some modifications, do some research. 6A12 or 6A12 Mivec, bolts in do some research. 4G63 lots of work and money, do some research. These cars have been around since 1996 if you use google you will find a lot of information on any of these engines I've listed. Search for some research.

Haha, yeah I thought I'd list from cheapest to most expensive I did miss the 4G93T though oh well, maybe do some research on that one to.

Re: Best Engine to use for CE Engine swap Price/Performance

well done Unclepaulie... I have found the best way to swap enginesin cars is to have an actual wreck and pull the engine from that it is so much cheaper and easier to do as all the parts are there including hoses wire looms ecu etc... but for a first time engine swap from a 4g15 - I would look at the 4G93... it is by far the easiest and cheapest swap to do and it is easy to build power into this engine...

4g93 swap

then if u have cash or patience left over, get a 94 block and retune for a 2L bolt in upgrade

/thread

yeah ima noob awsweell soo please save so please don t call me one
anyway , i got a 1.5 and am looking at upgrading to 1.8 or 2l nothing too mass , second hand engines are going for like 450
but like what else will i need to get , i drive a manual but do i need a new gear box to go wit hit
like i have no engine understanding and just want someone to tell me staight , like a list of *poo* and there individual ( avage ,good ) price and what what a good labour cost is for some dude to do it for me
thanks to anyone anyone who can shed some much needed light on this current noob oooo and ride thread coming sooooon

steps to an engine conversion for a 1.5L (best cost:gain swap)

1. go to wreckers
2. find a 4g93 sohc
3. pay a good 600-800 for the engine and loom+ECU and gear box
4. rip the car apart getting everything you need out
5. bring it all home
6. rebuild it/ fix it up a bit
7. put it in yourself
8. test it make sure its all good.
9. done

if your looking at an engine conversion i suggest you diy it, its one of the most forfilling experiences of modifying a car
but obviously you need the experience first. so go get experience, make some cold air intakes and do steering wheels and brake and suspension upgrades
focus on things that are not the engine (coilovers, GSR brakes, racing seats) then think about it once u have some experience under your belt

+modifying a car should be about u gaining experience and knowlege.

sweeet that makes sence thanks man , ohh and res can you ebay link me for those leds i asked about i cant find any

perhaps get the ignition and key? im not sure about immobilisers and all that

+1 for learning by doing stuff. talk to members ask if you can help them work on their cars, theyll help on yours etc.

+2 for learning by doing

As Chowetime said in a her comment is that when we did my conversion
It was easier having the whole wreck as you need to swap most things over eg 1.5 to 1.8
With the key,key barrel and immoboliser you will need them but make sure you have the same
Ecu as well as the car won't start.
If I can help with any info on this conversion feel free to give me a pm
Happy to help.
Kraig.

6a12m is an easy upgrade and you will not wipe the smile off your face with driving one of them i put one into the missus car and i think it was the best thing i ever did. As said do plenty of research and download as many factory wiring manuals as you can cause you will need them.
the 6a12 is a bolt in fit using a combo of fto and lancer parts. But if you do any upgrade do your brakes aswell as i didn't and they have only lasted 5,000ks since i did the upgrade.
Cheers Wade

+1 6a12 2L mivec v6 FTW - was going to do this when I had my mirage. Loads of write ups on the net, and easy to do if you have the skills (as per the PM I sent you denny)

Why so ? it is such a sweet little engine for a street car and within 15% self certification rules for the RTA.
