4g69 egr delete?

Does anybody know what i’d have to do to delete the egr valve without causing engine issues?

Is it possible to just remove the egr and block up its slot?

You’d need to block the port with a plate AND tune the ecu to not bring on the engine light.

Alternatively you can weld the ports closed and Tune all the same.

What’s the reasons for removing EGR from your motor? On the 4g69 it’s a very low volume of air and only activated during cruise conditions. It’s an emissions device which is required to operate as per most rego standards.

Had some ideas of boosting my lancer in the future, someone i know did an egr delete so i just wanted to know the benefits or downsides if doing it. Thank you for the reply

4G69 EGR delete involves physically blocking off the EGR port and disabling EGR in the ROM.
You need a Tactrix Open Port 2.0 or earlier and cheaper version that does only K-line communication to edit the ROM.
I have an Outlander CU5W with 4G69 engine that has EGR deleted and fully tuned ROM. Pretty much the same setup as Lancer CG / CH apart from being 4WD and 4AT. There are some useful power and economy improvements to be had with relative ease. The CG /CH Lancer tune is a step below that found in the Outlanders - Mitsi didn't really want people to enjoy their cars.... and now Mitsi doesn't exist apart from a badge on Renaults and Nissans
