Hi all. New to this forum but not to Mitsubishi's.

Currently have a 2003 Lancer Evo GT-A imported last August.

Have had a few Evo 7 GSR's an Evo V GSR and 3 Lancer GSR's (1.8L 4G93T).

Will be looking for info on the GT-A as they are quite rare here in Ireland. AFAIK mine is the only one on the road here.

Looking forward to your guys knowledge :)

Welcome from a far away place!

Really cool to see blokes from Ireland getting involved.

I feel like there is a little information floating around I think @unclepaulie did some solid research into them or had one... Ive forgotten. This might be an opportunity to collate the info none the less.

Welcome anyway and get writing on a ride thread, we all enjoy scrolling through peoples stories! Especially if you want to post some pictures of your old cars. We love a good wrap sheet.

Thanks for the reply and welcome Hugh. Yeah, the car scene here in Ireland kinda died the last few years - mainly due to the recession and the extortionate VRT (a tax to register a car - yes just to register). My GT-A was €6k landed in Ireland and the VRT was €3k on top!
Have had a few Evo's etc & will write up on them in the coming weeks/months.
Looking forward to picking the brains of the guys/girls on here :)

We have a similar thing here called compliance when we import cars. I imported a z32 which only cost $3500 AUD but then had to pay around $6500 in compliance and registration costs!

Do you have to pay VRT only for personal imports or on all cars?

Welcome!

I never owned one but did consider buying a gt-a and building the auto. It's the same as a ec5a/w galant/legnum vr4 auto on the inside.

Id recommend signing up to ozvr4 or even clubvr4 (UK vr4 site) for info on the box.

They can be built to handle a fair chunk of power (one vr4 in melbourne is making 290kw at the wheels through a mildly built auto)
