95 gsr running sick help

HI i have a 95 gsr lancer that I need help to get it running, was driving home up a small range when the car popped a backfire then lost power eventually dude and stalled out. Changed fuel filter and coils checked injectors and flow car is hard to start when it dose won't idle and have to pump the gas peddle to get it to run but dies out any ideas.?

Have you checked your timing? You may have skipped a tooth. If it starts and runs for a moment then you can rule out ignition. My 1.6 when I bought it was running on 2 cylinders. Leads were done before I bought it so I did plugs, packs, checked timing, swapped ecu, new CAS and then I replaced my ICM and it ran on all 4 again. What were your revs at and what were you doing when it happened?

ok i have done the following to this car coils checked os replaced . tps checked os and replaced cas replaced modual replaced, belts checked ok. now we have an idle and running just wont pull will free rev to 6k then drops away down to 3k peddle flat any ideas i am about ready to burn it?

Is your air intake all good? Clean your MAF sensor, throttle body and make sure all your vac lines have no leaks and no gaskets are leaking. Clean the panel filter.
Also check that your ISCV is operational (idle speed control valve). It sits near the intake manifold.

So your fuel pump us priming and you're getting fuel, no issues there? Getting spark as well? Make sure the distributor is working and all your ignition leads are good.

Check your timing, if you cam gears are retarded you'll have extreme power loss on low rpm and if they're advanced you'll have power loss at high rpm.

Also look at your basic service items like sparkplugs.

Air leak is my first guess, check every vacuum line, hose clamps etc. If there is a vacuum leak it will be running rich and not want to rev etc. Second thing to check, is ecu, if it's the factory ecu with age the capacitors can fail damaging the circuit board etc.

Is it an auto by any chance? Any chance that when you stop the idle fluctuates 500rpm up and down a couple times before it settles?
