Brake Upgrade Information

Well the difference is 2mm less thickness for a mini rotor, you're talk 1mm of pad thickness each side.
Realistically you should be changing brake pads before they get too low anyway so it's not a huge issue.

If you're overly concerned about it, just check your pad thickness when ever your doing or getting work done on your car. Takes all of 5 or 10mins.

I ran the Mini/Magna set up for ages and never had an issue.
Otherwise get the evo 1-3 rotors and get them redrilled, problem solved.

Hey guys,
I need to get new rear rotors for my car. I don't know what they came off of, but they are the solid 260mm disc rotor 4X100.
I assume I'd just be looking for the Proton M21 or Satria rear rotors of the late '90s early '00s?

I plan on driving the car on the track, any suggested brands and/or any brands to avoid?
I can't seem to find any DBA ones that suit, so I am looking at the RDA410S currently

I have RDA's and they're sweet. I thin proton wira had the 4x100 rear 260 as well. Might be able to find that. For front pads I got project mu ns400, reasonable price and hella good bite.

I'm going for Carbotech brake pads most likely:

But still need to do a fair bit of research to see which are best.
I'll be using the DBA T3 276mm rotors on the front and looking like RDA rotors on the rear.
I'd rather do a 5 stud swap so I don't need to bother with hubcentric rings and redrilling the rotors but cannot find any decent 15X7 5 stud rims sadly :(

No, I like how 15s look, they weigh less, and most importantly there is an abundance of 205/50/15 semi slick tyres to choose from that are cheap.

Anyone who has done the Magna single pot/Mini rotor conversion and wearing 15s, what wheels are you using?

CG VRX Mags

N14 SSS Pulsar wheels. And if you are thinking about doing track days and hard heavy braking get QFM A1RM pad. I have done a track day with them and not had any brake fade.

I had Lenso Sakura 15s that cleared 276mm brakes easy. Probs could have cleared 294mm with them as well

Ok so I'm a bit of a silly billy, I went to the wreckers yesterday to grab a few things and thought I'll get a set of magna calipers while I'm there. Didn't realise til I got home and opened this thread to get the rotor part number that I needed V6 calipers. I've got a set of the 4cyl Magna calipers which stock take a 256mm rotor, I'm wondering if the proton 256mms would fit? I'm probably going to just go get the V6 calipers since they're cheap enough but the 4cyl + proton rotor could be another upgrade combination?

I'm also thinking that the FTO calipers should work with the Mini 276mm rotor, right?

As long as they use the same brackets to bolt on then yes you could use 256mm magna calipers with a proton rotor. And yes to the FTO and mini combo

Cheers mate

I've got a pair of FTO twinpots, I've got a seal kits and mini rotors on the way - what pads are people using with their FTO brakes? I have access to an FTO BMC as well and will be tracking the car, worth the upgrade? Keeping drums on the rear for now.

BMC is worth the upgrade for sure, pedal feel will be better and its the confidence giver that you'll probably want on a track.
I've got Project Mu NS400 and they're super bitey. Heaps of people like QFM A1rm pads too, I've been in a few cars with them and they're great. I've also had EBC orange stuff and they were great but not as good as the previous two. Both aren't too deadly expensive either. I also don't think either really require slotted rotors, I run the ns400 without them and they're perfect but will suit slotted if you've ordered them. The mini combo has it's cons of having minimum thickness that the 276mm brake caliper requires, so keep an eye on that but most people report absolutely 0 issues with them.

Thanks mate yeah I've ordered regular rotors, I have read a bit about the minimum thickness and fortunately it doesn't appear that anyones had a negative issue with the Mini rotor.
