Newbie from Geelong

G'day guys, thought I might as well introduce myself.

I'm Andrew, moved from the Adelaide Hills to Geelong with my missus for work last year so I've been out of the car game for a bit, just picked myself up a CE Lancer to mess around with. Been car mad since jesus played full-back for Jerusalem, had over 30 cars in the last decade. I'm a drifter at heart but had a bit of fun doing track days in Adelaide with my old MX5 so I've been super keen to get back into it over here with something nice and basic, want to try and keep costs low and fun factor high.

Already got a heap of good info off the forums over the last month or so while I was looking around for a car, hoping I can get my little Lancer track ready over the coming months and get out to Winton a few times next year.

Any other forum goers who track their cars I'd love to hear your experiences with them, looking forward to getting back in the game.

Took me like 6 goes to understand what that mean, but a 12hr workday will do that to the brain hahaha.

Welcome mate! Get some pics up of the MX5! The guys in the USA love to bolt on snails and race them, such a nifty little car with potential, except for an unfortunate reputation for hairdressers

Hi Andrew and welcome.
I am building my car up to track at Winton as well.

What have you done to your Lancer, and what model is it?
If it is a 1.8 you could live with that for a little while and focus on suspension and brakes

Front brake upgrade with 276 mm rotors, ferodo 2500 pads and magna callipers works well. I tracked a rage lots of times with the standard rear drums. A better seat and harness would be a good idea for the safety and some R spec tyres. Then just have a ball wearing it out.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, spent many years on the old nissansilvia.com forums so I'm a little jaded but it should be nice to talk cars with some decent folks for a change.

I picked up a commonwealth games 02, so it's got the 1.8 and power windows which is nice. I've been through the brake upgrade thread like 5 times and I'm pretty set on the 276mm fronts for cost versus effectiveness. Kept my Bride Vios III fixed back seat out of the 5 so I'll grab some evo rails and get that in when funds permit. That should be enough to get out and have a bit of fun. I like it to move around a bit so I can wait a bit to put proper tyres on it, but r888s or something are on the wishlist down the track.

I'll have a crack at uploading a few pics of my old rigs (on my phone at the mo)

Will hopefully see some of the vic crew around in my travels, always down to talk cars

Yewwwww! I used to be on ns.com waaaaaay before i signed up here, probably 2007-2009 or so? General offtopic and Vic section though lol.

Theres a few of the ns guys still around, but the lancer is a fair bit down on power for them lol. A few of us Auslancer guys though have gone through a few decent hp cars, and most of the vic crew knows their car *poo* too, so its not a completely boring conversation haha. Keep an eye out, coming up to daylight savings and warmer weather, more events and meetups etc should be held

Wow, very impressive list of cars there.
Gotta say, out of it all my Fav would have to be that little datsun looking thing, i really love the early model coupes,

Watch out for those Vic guys, they're pretty crazy ahahahah :sunglasses:

Some pics of the rig, thinking I may do a members ride thread at some point.
