What did you do on your CJ today????

View attachment 4544 View attachment 4544 I

Brightened up the interior of my CJ. ES Sport.

Solid Chrome 9mm pin striping tape along the top beveled part of the silver trim strip on the dash and front doors. Certainly added some sparkle and brightened the interior but not entirely happy with it. Will do for the time being .

Replied to myself rather than start a new thread.
Replaced chrome tape with 10mm Bodyline, wheel arch molding from Super-Cheap $20. 75 Looks great, professional? now really happy with result.
Contemplating putting a strip along the rear of the boot between words, Lancer and sport.

Washed my car and air dried it with the garden blower, wasn't entirely happy with the results. Zaino 2 pro polymer polish still beeding in tiny droplets after 3 months.

Received order for 15mm Haigh chrome wheel arch moulding. Intend using it on boot lid and side of car got 2 lots of 5 meters. $95 Haven't decided Whether to
go high along ridge just under window sill, front to rear, or just above ridge low down between front and rear wheel arches. Like first option but concerned
it might look a bit Retro as that style on high spec cars stopped being used around 10 years ago, while the lower style is current . Appreciate any opinions!

Helped son polish his XR 8 Falcon. Easy wipe on wipe off, using Zaino 2 pro polymer polish.
Glass like finish, got him hooked, so gave him some of mine to take home, should last both of us
for a couple of years at least. You just have to use so little, you can barely see that anything is there.
Just recently redid mine, water was still beeding after around 6 months. Ready for summer ,
protects against UV rays as well. covered paint, glass and plastics.

Side and rear windows tinted. Needed in the Lancer apparently due to fade rate of interior.
Looks great and somehow makes the car quieter, less wind noise coming through the glass perhaps.
Job done through a highly recommended party. Top quality material cost $220.
will let you Know how things are going as time passes by. :smirk:

Went down and confronted my Mitsu dealer. Happened to glance over my first schedule service papers and noticed that start date warranty
was listed as 16-12-2014 (compliance date) Purchase date and first registration date New is 22-4-2015.
Their response was that, that is what Mitsubishi Australia's instructions were.

Issue I argued on here was that if they were right, it would mean the car as advertised and presented to me with a 5 year warranty to me, appears to be a gross
misrepresentation. In my case constitutes a 4 year and 4 month warranty and in every other such situation, to all who have purchased a similar
car with a possible more or less outcome.
Furthermore, in all the paperwork that you get with the new car. The only place tat you will find relating to warranty start date
can be found in the Service and Warranty booklet page 7 which states. "NEW CAR WARRANTY (5 years from date of first registration or 100,000km)

My dealer took the issue to Mitsubishi and the matter has been resolved in my favor. Will send me acceptance in writing .

Front sensors fitted. to help prevent accidental contact of that delicate first point of contact at the front of the car.Can happen with just a touch, as bumper isn't right up front!!

Actually happened a couple of days ago. Received and test fitted Talon rear diffuser. Appears to need a bit of correction but not insurmountable.

Test fitted talon rear diffuser. Everything fine, fit great, except for need of a bit of fill necessary on both corners. Made template and will fill with fiberglass.
Removed diffuser , will now fill corners and paint and then final refit.

Diffuser painted and ready to fit. Was unable to fill corners, while not perfect, are acceptable till I can sort it out. Not readily noticeable unless up close, or you go looking for it.
The gunmetal colour goes great with the cars cool silver.

What is going on? every time I try to insert a picture even ones I have entered previously all I get is that idiotic useless (IMG) which I cant open.
When asked for image URL I enter what it is on my computer to no avail just (IMG) which I cant open.

Why the change? Or have I screwed something up?

Finally fitted the talon diffuser!!! Very happy with the results. painted it myself Gunmetal Grey, tones in perfectly with cool silver of my car._MG_0252.JPG _MG_0260.JPG

Took my car MY15 2.0ltr ES CVT down to Mitsubishi dealer, rough, noisy idle occurs at idle, and noticeable when stopped at traffic lights etc: After run long enough to get engine warmed up.
Otherwise operation, smooth, no problems.

Smooth and quieter from cold start up and taken to warm up at idle.

Mitsu: dealer claimed my car was fine. Clacety sounds, not noticeable from cold start. Just injectors normal? Wobbly engine and exhaust. Normal?

Checked and scanned vehicle no DTC's in system.
Performed learn value reset
Completed idle learn reset. And all OK!!

OK Any suggestions!

I don't know how many klms you have done, but when i bought mine new in late 2004 the service log book stated to "check valve clearance and adjust if necessary", that was printed from the 1500 klm service onwards, they said that if i wanted that done it would be aprox $100 extra on top of normal service charge, they would not tell me either way if i needed it or not!

They wrote in my service book that "owner declined to adjust valve clearance as he stated not needed" ??

I have a mate who has been working as a mechanic at Mitsubishi for last 15 years, and a son in law who is a mechanic and they both told me that you do not need to adjust them as they are factory set, but some do slip thru that may need adjusting which normally shows up when engine warms up, hence the disclaimer in the service log book "adjust if necessary". I guess that means that if you don't elect to have it done and you run into trouble down the track then they might put it back on you for not "adjusting if necessary"

Its hard to say what the noise is without hearing it at the time, injector noise is a little different to valve noise, which can vary. I would suggest find another experienced mechanic to take it to when its warmed up and making the noise, the wobbly exhaust at idle is more than likely caused by a drop in idle towards stalling which could be any number of factors, but as your lancer is still virtually as new it should be running perfectly, mines done 165,000 Klms and it idles fine, no noise or vibrations, always ran 98 or 95 fuel from new, with injector clean in tank every 10K.

Awhile back I changed my tyres to 215 60 16 from standard 205 60 16. Got rid of those bloody noisy Yokohama's.
Actually yesterday, reduced tyre pressures down to 28psi. Was using 30psi. Hard to believe, but ride is much better,
smoother ride and got rid of that feeling of all those little ripples. Big car ride! Well?

Will keep an eye on wear and handling but have been advised by tyre company it is a minimum but will be fine.
I'm a sedate driver. Hmm mostly!!!! Slowed down markedly to when I was young, in keeping with slower reflexes
and inadequate roads.

Hope they quit the idea of the North East Link and use Corridor C option of completing the original planned
Outer Ring Road. A MUST DO, necessary now and absolutely in the future. So why waste money on the other temporary
options that wont even address the present situation fully.

Think of your tyres as basketballs. The more air in them, the easier they roll. But also the more bumps and shocks will pass through them. The lower the air pressure the more contact they have with the road surface (not that much) to improve grip (again not by too much in most cases), the more they absorb bumps and shocks but also more power needed to make them roll.

Like try rolling a pumped up ball or a slightly deflated ball.

Your fuel economy may also slightly suffer. But all these variables are in very small amounts based on how much or little air actually in the tyre. Like 30 to 28 will be hard to see a real difference but 40 to 28 you'd see some actual tangible results.
