V6 CJ?

Ridiculous or possible? Can A 3.8 380 motor and drive be fitted into a CJ? If not how about earlier V6 setups.

0-100 in under 4 seconds? Competion Drag machine?

Front track 380 1570mm, 1994 3ltr V6 Magna 1535mm, CJ 1530mm

ANYTHING is possible with enough money thrown at it. Mankind went from having never flown, to landing on the moon 380,000kms away in the space of 70 years. $24billion will do that though;

I'm sure a few thousand would get any V6 you want into a CJ, anyway that you wish. Road legal or otherwise is another issue, though.
 
380 motor will get a 380 from 0-100 in about 6.5secs in peak conditions. drop 500kg and watch it rocket from 0-100 in 4-5secs.
 
It's a stock turbo motor, I doubt longevity is an issue, but considering the ease (I assume) of transplanting that motor in, it may be worthwhile over a 3.8L conversion.
Easier to engineer, also a full alloy 4 cylinder weighs less than a cast iron V6.
 
Off topic, but relevant to the thread. Peregrine, I know you like being creative with your topic titles, but for future reference could you please use more explanatory titles for example "Would a (380) V6 fit a CJ Lancer?"

On topic:
factory turbo motors are well designed with long life in mind, they keep power at a level that is sustainable for an average vehicles life if the services are done.
The test labs at mitsubishi would have run many turbo motors for testing of wear and tear and adjusted things so that the product was lasting for the consumer.
If they didnt do this then you would not hear of them being considered a good car/motor.

If you were after power reliably both are valid methods to transplant. however a car coming with that motor from stock will be more reliable due to not having to be adapted in any way.
 
Why not fit a v6 from the outlander, 6B31 - 3L 6v Mivec. It's basically the same gen as the 4B motors?
 
Far as I know all are 4 wheel drive, gearing etc: but I suppose still possible only 3.0 ltr though.
If they are the same gen as the 4b there is a good chance the lancer gearbox will bolt up
 
They came with both the 4B11, 4B12 and 6B31. So one would presume it would bolt up to the gearbox with minimal issues.
 
:eek:OK. Mitsubishi how about a V6 CF? Most Holden Commodore and Falcon buyers will be looking for an alternative 6. Stretch chassis a bit maybe.

That's a very high market shareto battle into that's about to get even more saturated with new cars as the US market cars continue to come over. Seems like a lot of effort to drag out a car and call it the same model.

More likely they'll bring back a Magna or 380. But even kore likely is they'll scrap the sedan and go for hatch backs and small SUVs where they have more market share. Easier to expand where you're already making money.
 
Commodore's and Falcon's aren't doing well because people aren't buying large V6/V8's anymore. They are buying medium sized cars with small capacity 4 cylinders often with small turbo's. So why would Mitsubishi enlarge the Lancer chassis to fit a V6.

At the same time, gotta take into consideration the cost to produce such an engine - to make it reliable long term (how many falcodores are 400k kms+),
