Throttle Body Upgrade?

Alright, so im a bit of a noob with the throttlebody upgrades in terms of what bolts up without issues and whatnot.

4g15 -> 4g93 is a direct bolt up i belive, going from 50mm-something to 60mm is it? Its best to bore out the intake manifold too to take advantage of the larger intake as well i believe

What im really not sure about, is what is this about the 3pin or 4pin TB's, and what is boltup without any issues?
While we're at it, may as well ask about what about 4g93 upgrades? Magna's i think, but upside down or something like that?

What characteristics do you notice from upgrading the TB?
How noticeable are they without honing out the intake manifold? With intake honed?

You need to find a throttle body with the same amount of wires as your 1.5 one i think. 94 ones work on the 93 aswell i think.

@charliem you need to port it otherwise its just going to hit that metal and create unwanted turbulence and slow the air down. porting it out is like 10-20 minutes if you have a die grinder.

iv half done this upgrade, what you want to look for is a 4g93 TB off a ce pre 1998 because they run the same 4 wire TPS sensor as the 4g15 TB so straight swap with sensors and plugs. the two 4g93 TB's i salvaged from the wreckers were off ce's post 1998 and ran a newly designed ISC and 3 wire TPS which wont fit the 4g15. As for bore size, the 4g15 is roughly 45mm, and the 4g93 is 51mm so you're looking at increasing the bore size of the plenum about 5-6mm.

So do you happen to know if all 4g15 TB's pre and post 1998 run the 4 wire TPS or is this info just coming from your experience with your 1998 4g15?

Easy enough to find out with your own car get a torch and have a look at the plug it's the one at the back of the Tb near the firewall. Also the 6 pin plug for the isc can be at least two different types, this may also be pre and post 1998. If anyone in between Brisbane, Gold Coast wants someone to port their manifold to match the Tb I can do that for you.

My understanding is that all 4g15's run the same tb in all ce's/mirages post and pre 98, and only the 4g93 runs a different TB design 90-98 runs the 4 wire, then 98 onwards runs a 3 wire. if im wrong, more than happy to be corrected but this is my knowledge from experience and the research iv done while sourcing parts for my own ce.

if the 4g93 TB fits into the 4G15 and TPS and ISC wirings are the same.. they why not go for the evo VII?

evo 7 Throttle Body fits..

they are 67mm too

.. i know this cause im using it..

^thats way to big for a 1.5 guys... i dont even think there is enough meat in the intake to port that out.

I wouldn't bother, a genuine one like s90 or similar will cost you around $250 to get running. There's no enough space on the 4g93 plenum to port match it properly. 70mm is a bit over board for that displacement, it better suits a 2.4L. You can upgrade to an OEM EVO 60mm TB for around $100, complete bolt on.

I see that S90 sells a 62mm throttle body for the g15. I would think this would be too big. Is it even possible to port the manifold to match this size?
