ECU for CH 2.4L

Hey guys.

Looking at possibly buying an ECU for my CH 2.4L ES M/T.

In the process of adding a full exhaust and intake.
Just looking to squeeze the most out of my car.

What ECU's would be suitable for it?
Have found some for the CH 'Ralliart' but they're all American.
Others are for the EVO's, 2L.

Yea they use hacklish re flash of something like that. Go all out and get a ps1000 from a evo. So if you turbo in the future you have a really good ecu to start with. Ive got a ps1000 for my build

Hi

Just changing the muffler should be good for about 2-3 hp, cheapest is to just find a suitable muffler replacement and get a shop to weld it on, you will save heaps $$$ over the cost of a so called "bolt on" performance muffler, lukey are not too bad, less of a sloppy fart sound the better.

Next best mod would be to change the catalytic converter over to a straight thru cat, that should be around similar HP gain as above, If you were thinking of running a straight thru joiner pipe you will have problems especially as the 2.4 has numerous O2 sensors and you will get the check engine light all excited by coming on. You can stop this happening by tricking the computer by using a defouler or O2 sensor spacer, but then you will be illegal so best to use the high flow cat instead of a Joiner pipe

If you do just the catalytic converter and muffler, these are 2 of the major restrictions in any exhaust system, so its a good start!

The re-flash is probably the cheapest bang for buck way to go, but you would need to do some more research if the end result justifies the cost involved, if you had a turbo/ralliart/evo then the gain from doing this may be as much as 30HP, but as its a stock 2.4lt motor, you would have to weigh it up for any small gain you may get, unless you plan on spending mega bucks on engine mods, as i said more research.

Then maybe look at air-box/ intake mods, thats another story.

The 2.4 lt will be quick anyway with just the above few mods, a lot quicker than my CH 2.0lt, sighhhh, that's for sure, just remember squeezing more HP out of the engine will come at some cost, both $$$$ and fuel economy wise.

Cheers

Yeah, I've seen that mod list.

Looking at an exhaust in a few weeks when I can accumulate the funds.
Going to create an intake as well, hopefully full cold air instead of the partial cold air that stock 2.4L has.

ECU is last on the list.

What about fuel pump, bigger injectors etc?
Don't think they'd make much of a difference.

I don't plan to mod the motor beyond belief.
Just want the car to have slightly more of a kick to it.

Think I will focus on exhaust and intake for now, just to free it up a little.
Then if the time comes, I'll look towards an ECU, Pump, Injectors tune etc.

standard pump and injectors will cope with mild upgrades. I would lean towards a good set of headers and exhaust and a larger throttle body. you should be able to run the standard ecu and still boost performance.

dont think there's much reflash option here...

cant seem to find any(in perth) yet.

anyone has any idea?

i think u need to run a piggy back ecu not sure if people reflash the ecus
u can eliminate the laggy throttle response with a re tune as well.
even with a intake and full exhaust you wont notice much, as u need to get 10% more power to notice the difference.
you might pick up a bit of top end but not much
but at the end of the day its all about how much coin u got and the result u are after.
