Hi all, been a fair while since my last visit, its been a hectic run in my life ATM LOL....
So Today my lancer wouldn't start and seemed like a flat battery...no reds, no click just dead. I thought Immobilizer but no flashing light (don't think its even got one) as I was about to get out the car to check,( keys in ignition and on reds) the reds illuminated briefly but went out. i tried to start...dead. i shut the door, reds flashed...dead so i slammed the door and reds came on and started. Obviously lost all power as I had to reset clock and radio stations
now this happened a couple of times in a short period of time as i was stop start shopping and i was raining if that has anything to do with it......

im thinking a short somewhere? Where is the Ecuador located, drivers kick panel? Seems quite odd to me
Hopefully one of you gurus can assist me LOL
Thanks in advance guys

Check your battery terminals are still connected properly. Door opening and closing, shaking the car, can cause the negative or positive terminals to incorrectly contact the battery

Exactly what I think the problem is...checked terminal and both were loose haven't driven it since but I'll let you know if solved...makes sense, the harder I slam the door the more chance it'd start LOL
Cheers mate

Last year when we went to the End of Year Meet, the entire way to NSW I had the Vic guys push start my car every time because we thought the battery carked it.. Turns out it was loose terminals :p

Battery terminals? quick easy check if car wont start try tapping the terminals (not too hard) with the heel of a leather shoe or similar. Have had success on a few occasions with my and visitors cars. Surprisingly it works. Don't forget to clean and tighten as soon as possible after. Bicarb in warm water cleans terminals in a hurry just poor it on..

Battery terminals, yeah son had a guy come into repco workshop saying his battery wasn't charging and going flat and needed a new battery (only 6 mths old), had a look it turns out someone painted his terminals with that hard yellow anti-corrosive stuff, trouble is he painted them before he put the terminals on ???? But as we all know you put terminals on first than apply it!!! Problem solved, cleaned all the crap off terminals/refitted/surprise charges like new!
