Exhaust

Hey guys just was thinking of getting a catback exhaust atm for my lancer 2015 es sport looking at xforce maybe a 2.5 inch not sure if would be tinny or lose power. Cheers

Sounds like every single stainless steel 2.5" catback ever except not loud enough

Already told you man, 2.5" mild steel catback with a lukey/hurricane muffler and whatever style tip you want welded on it. No resonators. Better sound and save you money.

Hi. All above sounds interesting but whats the best way to get that nice deep throaty sound but quieter? My car is CJ ES sport 2.0ltr, 2.5 catback pipe and ?muffler?

Has anyone had any experience with the varex system ?
I am going to put an exhaust system on my 2010 vr-x , I want it proper loud but with the varex system would like the option of having it quiet for like just the late night// early morning entry/exit

Fairly sure it is a defectable item. Don't remember the specifics of why.

Catback refers to how much of the exhaust you are doing, in that case from the catalytic converter all the way back which includes a muffler. A cannon is a type if muffler. Not recommended for NA 4 cyl cars unless you like the sound of deep wet farts. Extractors are the first piece of an exhaust. No point doing them unless you do the rest of the exhaust since it will just be restricted again as soon as the extractors finish.

Basically whichever part of the exhaust you do, you want to follow that all the way to the end of the car otherwise it's a moot mod.

I just like the look of big cannon mufflers , so would it still be crap if I had full exhaust system with extractors and cannon as the muffler ?

If the existing system is fine for nights and early morning take offs etc and all you want is more noise at times, how about a cabin (from drivers seat) controlled split system with a separate muffler for each offering both your requirements at will. Could be illegal though so check first. If kept within reasonable limits it shouldn't cause problems and hopefully be undetectable! As to types and benefits I'll leave that to the more Knowledgeable.

Here's a possible answer LancerMR99. Wheels magazine November shows muffler used on their latest super dooper 6.2 ltr twin turbo commodore.

Not suggesting you use that muffler! It might be possible to get one the right size made.

Muffler which is divided into 3 chambers, has single entry straight through pipe on one side with holes drilled into it and there's a flap fitted to this pipe at the rear of the muffler . Opening the flap electronically, gives you a straight through exhaust. Closing the flap allows the exhaust flow to escape into the front chamber of the muffler through the holes in the straight through pipe, then through a series of baffles through to the second outlet on the other side and gives you a muffled and normal!! exhaust.

Could be interested in one of these myself.

edit. Note XForce did make these and possibly still do.

Im running a 2.5inch stainless exhaust from the headers
I have a highflow magnaflow cat (not sure on the cel), a giant resonator and an apexi N1 cannon on the bag with a 2.5 inch inlet and 3.5 inch outlet
It is loud and it does not sound like a fartbox
My advice would be to go to a trusted shop and get branded products such as magnaflow :)

Be interesting to see what power and torque gains were obtained.

Remember reading a few articles suggesting 3.5 inch outlet on NA engine could result in loss of torque.

Wonder if that was right or wrong.
